Padres Contra El Cancer

Over the last 2 years, Renán, along with his Tropa Loca, have hosted 3 radio-thons in Los Angeles, raising a total of over 3 million dollars for people in need. Padres Contra El Cáncer, (Padres) a California non-profit corporation committed to improving the quality of life for Latino children with cancer and their families, was the beneficiary of Renán's first radio-thon in Los Angeles.  At the inaugural “Radioton de la Esperanza”, (Radio-thon for Hope) for Padres, held in March of 2002, Renan broadcasted live for an unprecedented 58 hours, and was joined by top Latin entertainers, who generously donated their time to support the cause.

Renán hosted the 2nd Annual “Radioton de la Esperanza” in October 2003.  With Renan's assistance, along with his legion of loyal and compassionate listeners, Padres raised over 2 million dollars for Latino children with cancer at the two “Radioton de la Esperanza” events.  This gift remains, by and far, the largest financial contribution in Padres Contra el Cancer's18-year history.
